Nigerian Navy Boosts Personnel Welfare With New 20-Room Accommodation In Bonny
In a significant move to bolster personnel welfare, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Chidozie Donald Okehie, officially commissioned a 20-room Senior Rates’ Lodge at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
The project, which broke ground on August 22, 2025, and reached completion on December 30, 2025, was fast-tracked to resolve long-standing accommodation shortages at the Base.
Navy officials stated the new facility is designed to improve the living conditions of senior personnel, directly contributing to higher morale and improved operational efficiency.
The ceremony was attended by high-ranking naval officers, including the Command Operations Officer, Rear Admiral Chinonyerem Oji, and the Commander NNS PATHFINDER, Rear Admiral Cajethan Aniaku.
Following the formal unveiling, the Commanding Officer of FOB Bonny, Commodore Emmanuel Fingesi, led the delegation on a comprehensive inspection of the newly built units.
During his address, Rear Admiral Okehie lauded Commodore Fingesi for his “initiative and foresight” in prioritizing the well-being of his subordinates.
He emphasized that the project represents a significant investment by the Base and urged the residents to maintain the facility diligently.
”The delivery of this project justifies the resources and sacrifices made,” Admiral Okehie stated, reminding the beneficiaries that proper upkeep is essential to ensure the lodge serves the Command for years to come.
