TCN Refutes Power Outage Allegations, Assures Jos Customers of Grid Stability
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has refuted claims made by Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company alleging that transmission constraints are hindering power supply to Jos, Plateau State, and surrounding areas.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, TCN described the claims made in a Kaduna Electric release dated August 26, 2026, as false and a misrepresentation of facts.
TCN confirmed that all 330kV transmission lines supplying bulk electricity to Jos are fully functional and in service.
Addressing recent operations, the management acknowledged a single operational event on August 23, 2026, at 03:30 hours, when the circuit breaker on the Jos Lafia 330kV Line 2 was temporarily opened for voltage control. TCN clarified that this was a routine measure designed to maintain system stability. The line was subsequently restored to full service at 11:59 hours on August 24, 2026.
According to TCN, no further outages or bulk power transmission disruptions attributable to its operations have occurred on any 330kV line supplying Jos since the August 24 restoration.
The transmission utility urged distribution companies and stakeholders to verify technical facts directly with TCN before issuing public notices, cautioning that unverified statements create unnecessary public anxiety.
TCN reassured electricity consumers in Jos and nearby communities that bulk supply remains intact, reiterating its commitment to maintaining grid stability and working alongside distribution companies across the country.
