APC Celebrates First Interim Chair, Bisi Akande, at 87
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued an official tribute to its first Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, in celebration of his 87th birthday.
In a press statement released Friday in Abuja, the party described the former Governor of Osun State as a “doyen of democracy” and an elder statesman whose leadership was pivotal to the country’s democratic evolution.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, credited Akande with providing the principled leadership necessary to establish the party’s foundation. Morka noted that Akande’s tenure as interim chairman set the stage for the 2015 general elections, which saw the APC emerge victorious over the then-incumbent administration.
”Baba Akande’s life of service reflects extraordinary contributions to Nigeria’s political development,” the statement read. “As Interim Chairman, he laid the foundation for the historic political movement that birthed a new era of progressive governance in our country.”
The party further characterized Akande as a “quintessential Awoist,” praising his reputation for integrity and discipline. The statement highlighted his ongoing role as a moral guide within the nation’s political establishment and acknowledged his continued support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” administration.
The APC concluded the tribute by expressing gratitude for Akande’s decades of public service, offering prayers for his continued health and wisdom as he enters his 87th year.
