Bello Turji’s Days Are Numbered – DHQ

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has declared that the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji, is on the radar and that his apprehension is inevitable.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this during the 2026 first-quarter media briefing, where he detailed significant military gains across seven operational theaters.

He said Bello Turji is not invisible, neither is he invincible but a matter of time before he falls into the hands of the military

General Onoja who described Turji as a center of gravity for banditry in the Northwest, assured Nigerians that the military is deploying every available resource to ensure his capture following any eventual slip-up.

He also highlighted a strategic shift in the Northeast, where the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) confirmed the death of a senior Shura Council member, Abu Yahya al-Muhajir.

The Director, Defence Media Operations also reported that aggressive kinetic campaigns during the first quarter delivered measurable strategic outcomes in the fight against diverse terrorist organisations.

The briefing concluded with an acknowledgment of a new presidential directive to create a Special Fund for Veterans and military personnel affected by war, alongside a tribute to fallen heroes adding that ongoing operations will be intensified to decisively dismantle remaining criminal and terrorist elements across the country.
