Echono Named 2025 Personality Of The Year For Transforming TETFund.

The Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono, has been named 2025 Personality of the Year and Tertiary Education Transformation Champion in recognition of his reform driven and transparent leadership.

The award was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of Aljazirah Nigeria and London, Etuka Bassey, who said the honour followed weeks of nationwide assessment conducted by the organisation’s award committee.

Bassey commended Echono for what he described as a remarkable tenure, marked by ambitious reforms and measurable achievements in the management of Nigeria’s tertiary education funding agency.

In his response, Echono expressed appreciation for the recognition and dedicated the award to President Bola Tinubu, citing the administration’s support for TETFund and the education sector.

The TETfund boss added that the honour would serve as motivation for the Fund to deliver more impactful projects and initiatives across the country’s tertiary institutions.
