TCN Denies Transmission Constraints, Says Kaduna Electric Misled Jos Residents

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed as false a claim by Kaduna Electric that transmission constraints were responsible for power supply challenges in Jos and its environs.

In a statement dated August 26, 2026, Kaduna Electric alleged that transmission constraints were affecting electricity supply to the area. TCN, however, described the claim as a “deliberate misrepresentation of facts.”

TCN said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently in service and transmitting bulk power.

The company explained that the only recent incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. on August 23, when the Jos–Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened for voltage control as part of routine operations to maintain grid stability.

According to TCN, the line was restored and returned to service at 11:59 a.m. on August 24.

It stressed that there has been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN since the restoration.

“TCN remains committed to transparency and to efficient transmission of bulk electricity to Distribution Companies nationwide,” the company said, urging Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify information with TCN before issuing public statements.

TCN also appealed to electricity consumers in Jos and surrounding areas to disregard what it described as misleading information, assuring that it would continue working with distribution companies to ensure stable and reliable power supply.
