APC National Chairman Urges Unity, Sacrifice

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to embrace the values of sacrifice, peace, and national unity in commemoration of the 2026 Easter celebrations.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC Chairman described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolizing the redemptive sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He noted that the season serves as a vital reminder of resilience and hope during difficult times.

Focus on Sacrifice and Patriotism

Professor Yilwatda emphasized that the lessons of the resurrection are particularly relevant to Nigeria’s current socio-economic and security climate. He urged citizens to remain steadfast in their patriotism, stating that “sacrifice is the pathway to glory” and that faith can provide a foundation for national renewal.

The Chairman challenged Christians to move beyond professional faith and actively live out virtues of righteousness, compassion, and service in both public and private life to aid nation-building.

Addressing National Security

Touching on the prevailing security situation, Yilwatda expressed concern over the persistent acts of banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping affecting various regions. While commiserating with victims of violence, he urged Nigerians not to succumb to fear or division.

”At a time like this, we must not allow fear, division, or despair to define us as a people,” Yilwatda stated. “We must stand together in unity and resolve, supporting all lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace.”

Support for the Tinubu Administration

The APC Chairman used the occasion to acknowledge the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in stabilizing the country. He highlighted the government’s ongoing institutional reforms and strategic interventions aimed at strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

Yilwatda concluded by calling for a multi-level collaboration between government agencies, faith-based institutions, and community leaders. He urged the nation to pray for its leaders and security personnel, expressing confidence that Nigeria would emerge stronger through collective commitment and responsible leadership.
