The Honourable Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has called on the latest graduates of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) to prioritize innovation and technological development as essential tools for securing Nigeria’s future.

Speaking at the institute’s 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Combined Convocation Ceremony in Kaduna on Saturday, the Minister highlighted that the evolution of the nation’s security architecture depends heavily on the skills and intellectual contributions of the new graduands.

Gen. Musa, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of a modern military. He urged the graduates—drawn from various degree and diploma programs—to uphold the core values of discipline and professionalism as they transition into their respective careers.

”The future of our nation’s technological advancement lies in your hands,” the Minister stated. “Your knowledge and skills are vital to the security and progress of our country.”

The Minister further lauded AFIT for its reputation in cutting-edge research and specialized training, noting that the institution continues to produce highly skilled personnel who directly enhance Nigeria’s sovereign defence capabilities.

In his opening remarks, the Commandant of AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Adeniran Ademuwagun, congratulated the graduates on their academic achievements. He expressed confidence in their ability to serve the nation with integrity and urged them to remain dedicated to the progress of the Nigerian state.

The ceremony concluded with the formal conferment of degrees and the presentation of special prizes to students who demonstrated exceptional academic performance and leadership during their studies.
