FRSC Cracks Down On Mixed Loading, Intercepts Over 100 Passengers In Kaduna

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kaduna State Sector Command, has launched a major crackdown on the dangerous practice of mixed loading, targeting life threatening violations on the highways.

In a statement issued by Deputy Corps Commander and Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the operation led by Sector Commander CC Tijani Iliyasu resulted in the interception of several articulated vehicles conveying a hazardous mix of over 100 passengers, animals, and goods along key routes during the ongoing Easter Special Patrol.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, who ordered the nationwide enforcement, described mixed loading as a “ticking time bomb” and a serious violation that turns vehicles into potential death traps.

He warned that in the event of a crash, passengers face severe risks, including being crushed by shifting cargo or injured by livestock, significantly reducing their chances of survival.

He added that the practice also compromises vehicle stability, weakens braking efficiency, and increases the likelihood of fatal road traffic crashes.

Mohammed said the operation underscores the Corps’ zero tolerance stance on traffic violations that endanger public safety. He warned that drivers and operators who engage in mixed loading and similar offences will face strict penalties, including arrest and prosecution.

He also urged motorists to adopt responsible driving habits, particularly during the Easter period, which typically records increased vehicular movement nationwide.

The FRSC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through sustained enforcement, intelligence driven patrols, and public awareness campaigns, calling on all road users to comply with traffic regulations and support efforts to improve road safety.
